The new laptop and monitor many of use received are meant to work together to replace your current desktop and laptop. Eventually we will lose those devices altogether.
There are some things to consider before setting up this new system.
  1. Move any files you would like to keep using to the desktop or documents folder. When you login to your new laptop these files will be there. Be sure to allow time for documents to back up to the cloud.
  2. Plug all peripherals (printers, scanners, USB dongles, keyboards, mouses etc.) into the new monitor.
  3. In the box with the monitor, you will need only 2 of the 4 cables, the power supply for the monitor and the USB-C cable (that is the cable with small connectors on both ends).
  4. That cable will connect your new laptop to the monitor (see attached diagram)
  5. I made a short video explaining how to hook up the new system.
  6. Do not connect your current desktop to the new monitor
